Can I just say what a relief to find someone who actually knows what theyre talking about on the internet. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to read this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe youre not more popular because you definitely have the gift.

I'm just getting going again after 6 or so months break, moved into my house, have unloaded one shipping container of gear & only have one more to do, then I'm good to go.

Great to see...
I'm dragging the chain a bit aren't I?
But dancing under the crystal chandeliers at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna was SO worth it! Am going back in Jan 2012

Paul, I must admit I agree with nearly everything you said in these posts. One thing that disappointed me is the whole keyword searches per month. You only went for ones that were soooo low searches. I base my websites on a bit higher keyword results than those, but I'm sure you do too :). Anyways interesting article, thanks!

Thanks!

So far I have barely used it to link to my money sites, I'm really trying to make them look legit as possible and waiting for a PR update (I think Google has a 6 month delay on showing PR's now so it's going to take a while). Another reason is, I'm waiting to use them for stronger keywords that I'm now starting to target as I become more confident in what I can tackle. Currently I have domains I built myself from the ground up and aged domains with PR which seem to be all the rage these days in the SEO world. I'm backlinking them with different strategies/service to see what seems to work best in terms of giving them PR and rankings for low competition keywords while I decide what to do with it.

Ya, I started with adsense in Feb 2010 since the person who showed me that IM exists was a big adsense guy (Dave/Fingerman on our blog). I actually had read all your blog posts in early 2010 when I was first learning SEO and you had great tips around article marketing and spreading your content that I implemented even if I was mostly using them for backlinks and not really affiliate mkt objectives (I'm starting to venture in that market now though, but by still using SEO as my main traffic source). Currently I average out at $100 a day or so which 90% comes from 3 websites. I've been having a hard time breaking this "limit" in the past 2 months so I'm going to start new websites in different niches that I felt "very hard" to work in one year ago but now I'm more patient and I already have stable income so theirs no rush, might as well try new things!

Hey Ciaran,

Great points - and as I mentioned in the closing parts of the article the people who are successful create strategies - and you're one of the people who prove that!

When entering competitive markets too, I think there's more scope for creating content that's a cut above the rest and getting it in front of an audience - even if that audience is currently at another site (which will always be the case when you enter new niches)....

The IM niche is a prime example. It's far, far easier to build a new blog up by posting incredible content on other popular sites (like sitepronews.com as mentioned in the article) with links back to your own than it is just to create a blog and try and backlink the crap out of it and get it ranked.

And, of course, the two aren't mutually exclusive - because a well received guest post can lead to a huge amount of link popularity for your money site anyway!

Are you still doing a lot of PPC work with Wordpress blog landing pages? Are you still managing to turn a profit from that strategy? That's something I've been meaning to look at ever since I heard you mention it in one of your videos but haven't got round to it yet!

Cheers for popping by Ciaran, I'm honoured!
